Day 4: Puerto Madryn
We depart early in the morning heading north to visit the Península Valdés Protected Natural Reserve, picking up passengers from their hotels. First, we will encounter the Istmo Ameghino located at the entrance of the reserve. From there we will have the possibility to observe Golfo Nuevo and Golfo San José at the same time, the Isla de los Pájaros, and visit the Interpretation Center. Then we arrive at Puerto Pirámides, the tourist town.
→ Optional: whale watching by boat. Whales are visible from June to November.
During summer when there are no whales, a maritime tour may eventually be arranged to observe marine fauna. After the navigation, which lasts approximately one and a half hours, we continue the tour towards Punta Cantor and Caleta Valdés, at the eastern tip of the peninsula, to observe from the coast this geographical feature, and from where we may observe, depending on the time of year, the colony of elephant seals, sea lions, Magellanic penguins, and eventually orcas.
There we will also find a lodge for lunch, restrooms, and low-difficulty trails for those who want to walk a bit more along the coast. Depending on the time of year and the distribution of coastal fauna, we will continue to Punta Norte, a sea lion haul-out at the northeastern tip. This place is recognized for its particularly rugged coastline, and of course, for the possibility of seeing orca prowls or attacks, which generally "patrol" the area in search of new prey.
Also, during the tour you will have the possibility to observe land wildlife such as guanacos, choiques, foxes, maras, among other animals and marine birds. We will return to the city around 6 p.m., after having covered more than 400 km.
Day 5: Puerto Madryn
We depart early in the morning heading south to visit the Punta Tombo Protected Natural Area, the largest mainland colony of Magellanic penguins, picking you up from your hotels. After a 180 km drive we arrive at the reserve. First we will encounter the Interpretation Center, where we will find an exhibit divided into several rooms, as an introduction to the friendly Magellanic penguins, characterized by their small size, black back and white chest; as well as other penguin species from around the world. Restrooms and a lodge for lunch are located there.
Next we will proceed to walk the trails that cross the area and reach the coast, along which you will see the penguins and their nests.
Depending on the season, you may encounter penguins in different stages of reproduction: courtship, pair formation, nest building, egg incubation, chick hatching, among others. Penguins can be seen from September to March.
You will also be able to observe guanacos and other marine birds with a typical Patagonian landscape as backdrop.
After about three hours of visiting the reserve, we will begin the journey back to Puerto Madryn.

Day 7: Ushuaia
The National Park represents the southernmost protected area of Argentina. It is the only one with marine coasts and mountains. It is accessed via National Route No. 3 about 11 km to the S.W. of Ushuaia. On this tour we will discover Río Pipo, Monte Susana, Lago Acigami, Alacush Visitor Center, Laguna Verde and Bahía Lapataia where the Pan-American highway system ends.
We will make stops to take photographs and a walk of about 30 minutes that will be subject to weather conditions. The topography of the Park is extremely varied, being a succession of steep mountains, rivers, valleys, lakes until reaching the Beagle Channel coast. Year-round you can admire the sub-Antarctic forest. The most frequent mammal is the Fuegian fox. The variety of marine and mountain environments allows species of birds to inhabit here ranging from the Magellanic oystercatcher, the giant woodpecker, the tit-like bird and the Patagonian thrush, to the upland goose symbol of the National Park.
