Upon arrival at San José airport you will complete immigration procedures. At the airport exit, the ARA Tours airport guide will be waiting for you. They will deliver your travel documents and answer any questions you may have. Finally, a private transfer will take you to your city hotel.

Please note that depending on your arrival time, your room(s) may not be ready yet. In this case you can store your luggage and use the hotel's public facilities. Check-in is generally between 2-3 pm. If you would like to have your room available at an early arrival time, you would need to book it from the day before your arrival. In this case a supplement would apply.

Early in the morning you will be picked up at your hotel in San José. After a scenic drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park you will stop for a typical breakfast. Then the journey continues through extensive banana plantations towards La Pavona/Caño Blanco, from where you will take a boat to the lodge. Crossing rivers and canals you will have the opportunity to get a good sense of the variety of flora and fauna. After some time you will arrive at your lodge and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon you can choose to relax by the pool or visit the village of Tortuguero with a local guide. You will have time to enjoy one or two drinks at one of Tortuguero's typical sodas before returning to the lodge for dinner.
After dinner and only between July and September you can participate in an optional night walk on the beach to observe sea turtle nesting in the sand. As turtles are very sensitive and may decide not to come ashore or return to the sea for the slightest reason, please make sure to wear dark clothing.

After breakfast around 08:30 am you will enjoy an early boat tour through the channels of Tortuguero National Park. This is the best time to observe birds and wildlife in a relaxing morning atmosphere. Lunch will be served at the lodge. In the afternoon you will enjoy another boat tour through the channels.

Breakfast at the lodge and morning free to relax at the hotel. At the agreed time, transfer to the airstrip in Tortuguero to take your flight which will take you 35 minutes to your next destination. Your transportation will be waiting at the El Tanque de la Fortuna airstrip and will transfer you to your hotel. Located in the surroundings of Volcán Arenal, Hotel Amor Arenal is an oasis of peace that provides a unique nature experience. Surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, you will enjoy fabulous views, exquisite little houses (a type of cabin) or suites and pathways flanked with flowers and tropical plants that accompany you throughout the grounds. In the evening we recommend visiting one of the local hot springs (not included in the price).

After breakfast, departure to carry out today's excursion: You will have the opportunity to cross a series of metal bridges suspended over 50 meters high that allow you to appreciate all the biological wealth hidden in the forest canopy. You will certainly observe birds and with luck monkeys, coatis and sloths. The bridges will take you through a private nature reserve of approximately 250 hectares of Tropical Rainforest. These bridges were designed by engineers specialized in structures and meet the highest safety requirements. You can deeply explore the canopy, meditate and rest in the awareness of our connection with nature. Incredible for nature lovers and those seeking spiritual tranquility.

Today your journey continues northward and will take you to the Bridge of Friendship between Cañas and Nicoya. Once there, you will board a boat that will navigate upriver in search of Palo Verde, whose territory contains 15 different habitats such as lagoons, wetlands, mangroves, scrub forests and mixed lowland forests, evergreen forests, among the most notable. Palo Verde's natural hydrological system makes it the most important concentration area in the country and Central America for aquatic and wading birds, both resident and migratory. So then, with a little luck you may observe some of these birds: grebes, ibises, ducks, black-crowned night herons, roseate spoonbill, great blue heron, macaws, the jabiru or Galán without virtue, one of the largest birds in the world, endangered. In addition, mammals such as howler monkeys and white-faced monkeys, coatis, deer, squirrels and coyotes. You will finish this impressive adventure with a delicious lunch and continue towards the beach for the next two nights.
