The Mayan Table

Reception at the airport and transfer to our hotel in Guatemala City.
Accommodation.

Breakfast. In the morning we will take a panoramic tour of this city. We will visit the Cathedral, the Central Plaza, the National Palace and Reforma Avenue. Mid-morning we will have our cooking workshop and introductory talk on Guatemalan gastronomy, taught by a renowned Guatemalan chef. Lunch. In the afternoon, we will take the local flight to Flores. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.

Breakfast. Today we will visit the Mayan city of Tikal, the jewel of the Classical Mayan World. Lunch within the archaeological site. Rest of the afternoon free to enjoy a walk through Flores Island, accompanied by a relaxing view of Lake Petén Itzá. Dinner at Restaurante La Danta*, specializing in dishes that enhance the flavors of artisanal gastronomy with the history and ingredients of the Petén region. Accommodation.

Breakfast. At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to take the return flight to the city. Reception and departure towards the interior of the Guatemalan highlands. Along the way, we will visit the archaeological site of Iximché, ancient capital of the Cakchiquel Mayan kingdom. After the visit we will continue towards Lake Atitlán, which Huxley said was the most beautiful lake in the world, with its three volcanoes and home to twelve indigenous towns. Accommodation.

Breakfast. We will navigate the lake to visit one of the twelve towns surrounding this beautiful lake. We will get to know the Tzutuhil town of San Juan La Laguna, characterized by the harmony in which its inhabitants coexist with nature and culture. Today we will have our cooking workshop at Proyecto Deleite Ancestral* where we will learn the preparation of local cuisine dishes. After the meal, return to the hotel. Accommodation.

Breakfast. Early in the morning, we will travel to the town of Chichicastenango, where we will explore one of the most renowned indigenous markets in all of Latin America. Visit to Proyecto Tux* where we will have an ancestral Mayan gastronomic experience with its gourmet cuisine, all sourced and explained with information about culinary research. In the afternoon, transfer to La Antigua, a colonial city declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Accommodation.

Breakfast. Today we will discover two of Guatemala's main gastronomic products. In the morning, visit to Finca Valhalla* where we will learn all about macadamia nut cultivation, its agro-industrial process and our reforestation project. We will continue to Finca de Café La Azotea*, where we will discover how one of the world's best coffees is produced. Visit of the nursery, the plantation, the wet and dry processing, the drying patios, the roasting area, mill, packaging and finish with a tasting. Rest of the afternoon free for personal discoveries. Accommodation.

Breakfast. Transfer to Guatemala City airport. End of our services.
