Amazon Reserve (Extension)

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado - Arrival at Amazon Reserve.
You will arrive in the city of Puerto Maldonado, known as the capital of Biodiversity. A car transfer will take you to the port to begin your Amazon adventure with a 45-minute boat ride along the winding banks of the Madre de Dios River. The motorized boat will take you to Inkaterra Amazon Reserve, nestled in the heart of the rainforest. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with an orientation talk where the à la carte excursions will be presented so you can design your itinerary according to your interests. Afterward, you can enjoy lunch or head to your cabin, located in Peru's first private Ecological Reserve, preserved by Inkaterra since 1975 due to its sensitive environment. After a brief rest in your rustic luxury cabin, you will be ready to explore, accompanied by your Inkaterra Explorer Guide. You can walk the Trail System for an introduction to the intricate biodiversity of the Amazon basin and the different layers of the rainforest. You will walk surrounded by impressive trees, such as the Shihuahuaco, while your ears perceive the songs and whispers of the exotic wildlife that inhabits this ecosystem. These are ideal opportunities for bird watching and enjoying the abundant vegetation. At sunset, you can take the Night River excursion to appreciate how the jungle transforms into a nocturnal world, welcoming species adapted to the shadows of night. You may encounter nightjars, owls, and capybaras to caimans hidden along the riverbanks. An Amazonian-inspired dinner awaits you in the main dining room from 19:00-22:00, where you will toast with a complimentary Pisco Cocktail. Back in your comfortable cabin, you can rest.

Day 2: Tambopata Reserve - Inkaterra Canopy Interpretation Center
Sunlight filters through the thickness of the trees, while the jungle inhabitants awaken from their slumber. You can join them early with the buffet breakfast available from 05:00. Visit Sandoval Lake this morning, a shimmering mirror of water found within the Tambopata National Reserve. Board a carved wooden canoe and paddle calmly through the water channels that feed the lake, then navigate it flanked by beautiful palm trees. This serene lake is home to various bird species, the endangered river wolf, howler monkeys, macaws, anacondas, turtles, black caimans, and other animals. Return to Inkaterra Amazon Reserve in time for lunch. In the afternoon, we recommend ascending the thrilling Inkaterra Canopy Walkway, a safe and sophisticated system of suspension bridges built ecologically, connected by eight platforms and two panoramic observation towers. This is an unforgettable opportunity to observe the Amazon rainforest from the treetops and understand its dimension. Ascend the first tower to 42 meters (138 feet) above ground, with your senses alert searching for toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, monkeys, and the elusive three-toed sloth. Extend your elevated visit to enjoy the sunset with cocktails from an observation tower, or spend a unique night in a treehouse cabin designed with surprising amenities (services with additional costs). Back at the lodge, you can book a treatment at ENA spa (Additional cost applies). À la carte dinner awaits from 19:00.

Day 3: Gamitana Stream - Night Jungle Excursion
You will travel by boat for 25 minutes to the Gamitana Farm and Stream to discover more mysteries of the rainforest. The Amazon is an almost inexhaustible source of exotic fruits and vegetables, many of which have healing properties benefiting the local communities living in the remote jungle. At the model Gamitana farm, surrounded by the sounds and aromas of the Amazon, you can observe up close how a wide variety of ingredients is cultivated by local farmers and taste seasonal fruits. Walk through a dense vegetation trail under the forest canopy until you reach Gamitana Stream. This stream with dark and muddy waters is home to piranhas, caimans, turtles, and birds hiding along its banks. Return to Inkaterra Amazon Reserve for lunch. You will navigate 35 minutes upriver to Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción, built on an old cacao and rubber plantation in the nineteen fifties. Founded by Catholic missionaries, this property functioned as a medical center and ecological research facility. With over 200 different plant species, see why the Amazon is considered the world's largest pharmacy, and learn about its uses and benefits up close. Then enjoy a relaxing 30-minute canoe ride in search of turtles, cormorants, nightjars, and herons before returning to your lodge. Under moonlight, you will be invited to take the Night Jungle excursion. Armed with flashlights, walk through the foliage as your senses perceive movements through the vegetation and the nocturnal sounds of the forest emanating from different directions around you. Alongside your Explorer Guide, encounter animal activity and observe species that only emerge during the night.
