Adventure and Cayo Ambergris

Day 1: Airport - Belize
Upon arrival, reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel of your choice.
Day 2: Belize - San Ignacio
In the morning you will be transferred to the Cayo district. Along the way you will visit Belize Zoo and Xunantunich Maya Site. Belize Zoo is located at mile 31 of the western highway, about 40 minutes drive from Belize City. Only native species are found in the zoo, all of which have been either rescued or donated by owners who could not properly care for the animals. The "guests" are kept in large enclosures that contain their natural habitat. Birds, felines, crocodiles, monkeys, the list seems endless. A great opportunity to see and photograph jungle animals that are not easily seen in nature. After lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues along the western highway through San Ignacio in the Cayo district. Once you arrive at the town of San José Succotz you will cross to the other side of the Mopan River, then continue one more mile to the impressive site of Xunantunich (Maiden of the Rock). An important Maya ceremonial center. Accommodation in San Ignacio.
Day 3: San Ignacio
Breakfast. In the morning you will travel west to the Cayo district, just a few kilometers from the Guatemala border, until you reach the Ixchel Farm trails. These trails were established under the direction of Don Eligio Panti, who, until his death at the age of 103, was the country's leading authority on traditional medicine. The knowledge has been passed on, and the tradition continues. You will then visit the Butterfly Farm, located on the grounds of Chaa Creek Cottages, where visitors can witness each stage in the life of a blue Morpho butterfly. After a well-deserved lunch, we will visit the Cahal Pech site (Place of the Ticks). Located on the edge of San Ignacio town, this site dates back about 3,000 years. The visitor center and your guide will enlighten you on the mysteries of the Maya. Accommodation in San Ignacio.
Day 4: San Ignacio - Cayo Ambergris
Breakfast. Transfer from the hotel to Caves Branch River and its winding path through the Maya Mountain, and its numerous caves. Upon arrival at "Jaguar's Claw", you will begin a 45-minute hike along jungle trails to learn about various plants, roots and herbs used by the ancient Maya. The entrance tunnel that leads into the underground cave system is the beginning of a revealing adventure. With the help of your guide and a flashlight you will be ready to float in inflated air chambers assisted by a gentle current that will carry you through the cave system. A complex network of crystal formations along with stalagmites and stalactites add splendor to the scenic beauty of the caves. You will finish with a delicious typical Belizean lunch consisting of rice, beans and stewed chicken. Transfer to Cayo Ambergris and accommodation.
